Pencil and Scissor Hand Positions

The thumb and index finger hold the pencil, as it rests on the finger below. Fingers should be relaxed and not gripping too tightly.	The thumb goes in the smaller hole. Three/two fingers in the larger hole (include the pinky only if it fits easily).

The other hand rests, holding the paper in place.	Notice the index finger (sometimes referred to as the 'helping finger') sits above and acts as lead in the cutting process.
Encourage forming letters from top to bottom, working left to right. (Try to keep corrections to a minimum.)	Return to our home page.
